Painting is a form of escapism for me. It's a way of putting my sense of humour and imagination into an art form.

I used to paint portraits and landscapes until one day I painted a meerkat eating an ice lolly for my son as a joke and he loved it. Suddenly I received lots of requests from his friends and colleagues to paint novelty pictures for them - and that's how it all started!

I entered an art competition last year and won first prize with my giraffe mugshot. I am now starting to exhibit my work and trying to reach a wider audience.
